Dial-up Networking Re-install for Windows 95/98
(The 47 STEPS)

The disclaimer section:

Make sure that the customer is NOT connected to a network before beginning these steps.  These steps are designed to be used on stand-alone computers dialing in via modem. You may cause irreparable damage to the customer's system if they are set up to be on a network and you start deleting protocols, etc.

YOU MUST HAVE YOUR WINDOWS INSTALLATION DISK OR CD BEFORE CONTINUING OR HAVE VERIFIED THAT THE CAB FILES ARE ON THE CUSTOMERS HARD DRIVE AND HAVE NO FILES MISSING

Ensure that the CD drive is accessible and working before deleting anything from the Communications Stack. If you do not have the Windows installation software, or the CD drive is not responding, do not continue.

    • Still not working?! -  If you have deleted the communication suite and followed the process in the above link and there is a problem with the cab files, contact a Shift Supervisor.  There is a clean way to recover but you will leave the customer still having a corrupted dial-up communications suite.
